Since 2013, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been collaborating closely with the Virtual Center of Excellence on Forest Monitoring (CEVMF) to reinforce South-South Cooperation in forest monitoring. This partnership operates within the framework of the Mesoamerican Strategy for Environmental Sustainability that aims to deepen and diversify existing regional cooperation in environmental matters in the context of the growing economic, political and social connection between ten countries of the Mesoamerican region.

My name is Manpreet Aulakh and I am a university student studying Climate change and environment policy at the University of Leeds in the UK. I am doing my masters dissertation on the Global processes of REDD+ in the post- Paris climate change regime.I was wondering anyone who has worked with/on  REDD+  will be available for a phone interview around mid- june or july to get your view on global REDD+ negotiations and how REDD+ has evolved from the 2010 Cancun agreements to the present in its global decision- making processes in order to create  successful polices to decrease global GHG emissions. Con presencia de representantes de comunidades indígenas, afrocolombianas, del Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible, el Instituto de Hidrología Meteorología y Estudios Ambientales, la Embajada de Noruega, la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura, el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo y ONU Medio Ambiente se efectuó el cierre del Programa ONU-REDD en donde se hizo la presentación de sus principales resultados de su trabajo durante tres años en el país.

Ha Noi, 7 August 2017 – A high-level forum on realising economic opportunities from sustainable management of natural forests was held by the Viet Nam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Central Economics Committee, and the United Nations with the support from the UN-REDD Programme and other partners including the Viet Nam Private Sector Forum. The Forum was attended by representatives from the Government ministries, business associations, enterprises, financial institutions, international organizations, and forest owners. High-level figures included Mr. Cao Duc Phat, member of the Party’s Central Committee and Standing Vice-Chairman of the Central Economics Committee, Mr. Kamal Malhotra, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam, Ms. Siren Gjerme Eriksen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, and Mr. Erik Solheim, UN Environment Executive Director.

El Programa ONU-REDD publicó una versión del kit para facilitadores de talleres de su “Herramienta de Beneficios y Riesgos” (BeRT, por sus siglas en inglés). Este kit está diseñado para apoyar equipos nacionales aplicando las salvaguardas de REDD+. Cuando se desarrolla un enfoque nacional de salvaguardas, es útil identificar los beneficios y riesgos potenciales de las políticas y medidas (PAM) candidatas para REDD+, y el grado en el que las políticas, leyes y reglamentos (PLR) abordan estos beneficios y riesgos.
