A team of national and international consultants have helped Sudan to kick-start its National REDD+ Programme. Their report on the development of the REDD+ Prepardness Strategy for the Government of Sudan is available here. In the UN-REDD Programme's March/April 2012 newsletter issue, read about the Programme’s recent US$8 million in funding allocations to the Republic of Congo and Sri Lanka, as well as updates from Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, the Philippines, Sudan and Viet Nam. Sudan Forests National Corporation (FNC) with support from UNEP and British Embassy is currently conducting a "REDD+ consultancy in Sudan". The  REDD+ consutlancy starts on 20 Feb. 2012 and finishes on 28 Mar. 2012. See participants list here.

Sudan participated in "The regional consultation between Indigenous Peoples and Forest-Dependent Communities", from Africa and the UN-REDD Programme on Free, Prior and Informed Consent Processes and Recourse Mechanisms. This took place in in Arusha, Tanzania on 24 – 27 January 2011.

Sudan Participated on the  UN- REDD 7th Policy Meeting, held in Berlin, Germany during 13 -14 Oct. 2011, Sudan delegation was supported by UNEP-Sudan.

As per February 2010 Sudan is a partner country to the UN-REDD Programme.
