In the September issue of the UN-REDD Programme newsletter, we highlight Indonesia's progress in its national REDD+ strategy, report on the Programme’s recent mission to the Republic of Congo and a roundtable held during the REDD+ governance workshop in Mexico. Plus, we explore the role of REDD+ in biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, in the lead up to CBD COP-10 in Nagoya in October.

A new folder with capacity building material to help support understanding of and engagement in REDD+ is now available, with a range of resources in different languages, including: toolboxes, guidance documents, training manuals, and short videos. The folder REDD+ Resources can be accessed via the All Documents drop down menu.

The Fifth UN-REDD Programme Policy Board meeting will take place 4-5 November 2010 in Washington D.C. We are also planning a joint meeting with the FCPF and FIP governing bodies 6 November 2010. More details to come, and all related documents here

Mexico has launched its Online Comunity on REDD+ to share information and communicate to a large audience on the theme of REDD+ in Mexico. See it today!

On Tuesday 31 August the UN-REDD Programme organized a roundtable on REDD+ and governance at the Oaxaca workshop on forest governance, decentralization and REDD+. More details here.

In the August issue of the UN-REDD Programme newsletter, we welcome Bangladesh, Bhutan, Central African Republic, Colombia and Guatemala as new partners to the Programmel highlight recent UN-REDD support to REDD+ readiness activities in Latin America; and report on the outcomes of our governance side event at the August Climate Change talks in Bonn.

Through 18 workshops and 80 presentations held over 10 days, the "Summer Campus' in Kinshasa allows DRC stakeholders to deepen their knowledge of REDD+, join and create networks and strenghten regional cooperation dynamics. Read more (in French)

The UN-REDD Programme, the FCPF and the FIP have taken some important steps over the past month to improve coordination and support to REDD+ countries. More

On 11 August 2010 national stakeholders in Zambia reviewed the revised final UN-REDD Programme document and the response report that details the UN-REDD team responses to the issues raised by the Policy Board and the national validation meeting. More about the Zambia UN-REDD Programme

The UN-REDD Programme convened  a side event to take stock of specific governance elements necessary for the success of REDD+, and facilitate a dialogue about existing governance initiatives that relate to REDD+ readiness and how to enhance country ownership of REDD+ governance. The dates are set! The 5th Policy Board meeting will be held on 4-5 November 2010 in Washington DC, followed by a joint UN-REDD- FCPF meeting on 6 November.

A first scoping mission took place in Ecuador on 18-21 July. Read more about it here, and about readiness in Ecuador here.
