A three days workshop is taking place in Lam Dong on 13 - 15 June as a follow up from a training workshop in April on how to develop a comprehensive indicator set and what to consider when selecting data collection tools. This workshop is part of the PGA for REDD+ in Viet Nam.

After a successful consultation workshop on results of the ICA for REDD+ in Lam Dong in March this year, a training workshop on considerations around developing qualitatively sound and smart indicators will be held on Apr 16 - 17, 2013 in Lam Dong, with a lot of the same stakeholders.

RECOFTC, with support from UN-REDD through UNEP, has released a series of  "Country Assessments on REDD+ Capacity Building Services". The assessment focuses on the strengths and weaknesses and identifies the gaps in capacity building services being provided against Asia-Pacific countries’ REDD+ readiness needs. Full report for Vietnam is available to download along with an updated policy brief, to bring together the findings from across the region. Read more here.
 
UN-REDD Programme Viet Nam is currently developing two reports, an evaluation report for effectiveness of awareness raising and training, and lessons learned report activities such as FPIC and BDS consultations. These reports will be used to guide the Programme in its Phase two implementation, guide the National REDD+ Programme, and inform other countries getting ready for REDD+. As a country aiming to reach Tier 3 reporting by the eventual implementation phase of REDD+, Viet Nam, supported by the UN-REDD Programme engaged in a study to stratify the country into ecological zones which are conducive for forestry. Comprehensive new REDD Readiness research for Viet Nam is now featured on Viet Nam's country page on the REDD Countries Database. This page includes a quick overview of the state of REDD Readiness in Viet Nam, in addition to detailed links of national REDD policies, plans, laws, activities, statistics, activities and financing.

A delegation from Viet Nam, led by Vice-Minister for Forestry H.E. Hua Duc Nhi, is visiting Mexicoand Ecuador from 5 to 13 April to learn from the Latin American experiences in community forestry, Payment for Environmental Services and financing mechanisms for the forestry sector. The visit will also serve to strengthen the ties between the three countries in REDD+ implementation and is one of the first practical exchanges of the emerging South-South collaboration on REDD+. The workshop aimed at getting comments from different stakeholders in the province on the BDS recommended by UN-REDD and to discuss with provincial authorities on the possibilities for application of BDS in the province. See more details under "Implementation framework" here.
