Zambia

The UN-REDD program in Zambia is hosting an Allometric Equation (AE) training workshop with the technical training of national technicians from Tanzania and Zambia, and the development of new AE equations for both countries. The training will be held from 10-14 December 2012. This is a South-South training with technical experts from CIRAD in France and FAO HQ, training  fourteen technicians from Tanzania and Zambia. AE equations are an important quantitative element of efforts to Measure, Report and Verify (MRV) forest carbon stocks and stock changes in countries.

FAO's country office in Zambia is looking for an international consultant to conduct a joint task on "Drivers of deforestation" and the "Economic context of REDD+" in Zambia, beginning mid-August 2012.  UN-REDD Programme and PACDE, together with UNDP Zambia, organize a workshop on "Strengthening Transparency and Accountability for REDD+ in Africa" in Lusaka 24-26 April 2012. More details to come.The

The UN-REDD Programme and the Government of Zambia are organized a three-day REDD+ Orientation Workshop on REDD+ for a broad range of stakeholders, including government, NGOs, community representatives and academics. The workshop, held in Lusaka from 27-29 June, aimed to increase understanding on REDD+ as well as foster multi-stakeholder engagement and dialogue around REDD+. The Climate Change & National Forestry Programme workshop will take place in Kabwe, Zambia on 27-28 April 2011. The objective is to identify priority action needs related to sustainable forest management in the context of climate change in national forest policy and practice whose implementation can be supported by the FAO Finland Programme in the period 2010-2012.
